This fabric is a soft furnishing/Upholstery velvet, with a higher "sheen" than our cotton velvets. the Polyester makes it stronger than cotton and able to withstand the pulling and tugging that a professional upholstery job requires. An added benefit of this velvet, is that it is not as heavy as many upholstery velvets, so it can be used for other furnishing projects, such as curtains and cushions. It will go through the sewing machine without slipping all over the place. Whoever has tried an uphosltery velvet of 450gsm or higher, will know what we are talking about here!!

This fabric also has a Martindale score of 30,000 rubs. (that is a trade speak for sit downs). Martindale is acommonly used measure of the durability of upholstery fabrics, often used in Europe and less so in the UK.
